What Does the following lumbar Spine Observation Indicate?

Below are observations after lumbosacral spine:

1. Diffuse disc bulge at the L4-5 with annular tear at the left posterolateral aspect with extrusion of necleus pulposus into the left neural for am in a causing compression of left existing nerve root.
2. Diffuse non compressive disc bulge at L1-2, L2-3 and L3-4 levels.

Please advise if operation is required in this case? if yes then which method is best suitable for the operation?

Hello

Findings suggests degenerative changes in L/S(lumbo-sacral) spine.
Degenerative changes are generally age related findings. It is due to chronic stress on annulus fibrosis.

1.At L4-5 level, there is diffuse disc bulge with annular tear and there is extrusion of nucleus pulposus in left lateral neural canal which is causing compression over left nerve roots.

2.At L1-2, L2-3 and L3-4 levels, there is disc bulge but there is no compressive effects on nerve roots.

Majority of degenerative disc disease patients are benefited by conservative treatment in the form of physiotherapy, analgesics and muscle relaxants.
Surgery should be the last option.
Physiotherapy helps in strengthening of paraspinal muscles and it prevents further changes.

Get well soon.
Take Care
